CaseStudy-BAEBAE Systems choose LandMark with WebAcumen from Hexagon Software

BAE Systems have a worldwide holding of properties, with sites in over 60 countries occupied by their 107,000 staff. Sites range from submarine depots, to airfields through to town centre office buildings. BAE Systems needed to improve the control of these property assets and a way of centralising this data in their UK head-office.

After reviewing the market for suitable property management systems BAE Systems chose Hexagon as their preferred supplier and implemented LandMark, Hexagon’s prestigious property management and property asset control system.

Smooth, Managed Change Over From Existing System

This implementation was successfully carried out in the last quarter of 2008 with minimal impact to BAE Systems and a smooth, managed change over from the existing system. The flexibility of the new system has allowed BAE Systems to have a clearer idea of their property holdings and has made them more efficient at managing breaks, breaches and head lease processes.

Secure, Instant, Controlled Worldwide Access

In 2009 BAE Systems finalised their worldwide data and imported this information into LandMark in the UK. The next step in the process was to allow key users across the world, access to property data. Obviously security and access control was an issue and so BAE Systems worked with Hexagon and their Web Acumen data portal. Web Acumen allows users read-only access to property data based on their user group, for example US staff could have access to US data but not UK data, and this was further broken down to sub groups where for example UK staff could only access property data from within the company group they were employed by. This gives both the flexibility and control that BAE Systems wide range of property users need.

BAE Systems have now used LandMark for two years, and have users in: Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. The system has been a leap forward from the prior systems in use and allows head office control for the whole world property portfolio.
